10 Ways to Make the Most out of Summer

summer, Grand Rapids
I'm in denial that summer is ending soon. I absolutely love these warm carefree summer days so I put together a list of 10 ways to make the most out of summer. Let me know how you're enjoying the last days of summer!

1. Be a tourist in your own city
You don't have to travel far to make the most out of these summer days. Check out your local farmers market, museum, new restaurant or sporting event in your city. It's a fun way to try something new and make the most out of these long days. If you need some ideas in Grand Rapids check out @thegrguide

2. Go to an outdoor concert
Whether it's a local band or chart topper summer nights are perfect for enjoying some music outdoors. Pack a picnic and head to the Frederik Meijer Gardens for Tuesday Evening Music Club to hear some local music and take a walk through the new Japanese garden.

3. Be spontaneous
Summer nights and weekends call for a little spontaneity. Take a quick drive to the lakeshore or do something out of the ordinary.

4. Learn something new
Why not try something new this summer? Maybe a sailing lesson at the Grand Rapids Yacht Club or a new fitness class at lululemon

5. Say goodbye to the TV
With the Bachelorette handing out the final rose there isn't much else to keep your attention on TV. Turn off the TV for a night and enjoy reading a book outdoors or having a backyard BBQ with friends.

6. Travel
Take a little weekend camping trip or make it a week in a new city. Summer is the ideal time to enjoy some rest and relaxation by the beach.

7. Read a book
While you're relaxing by the beach catch up on a new book you've been meaning to read. Need some ideas? Check out my summer reading list.

8. Enjoy a s'more (or two)
Summer is the time for s'mores. Take advantage of those summer bonfires at the beach or in your backyard and enjoy a s'more.

9. Spend some time in the water
Spending time by the water is a summer must. Whether its the pool, lake or ocean the water is the place to be.

10. Enjoy a sunset
You can't help but feel blessed to savor a summer sunset. Enjoy the view from a dune or from your front porch and be thankful for these amazing summer nights.

xoxo
