What I'm Reading Now: The Great Gatsby - A Book by Its Covers

I'm getting super excited for The Great Gatsby to hit theaters this weekend (confession - I've started a countdown on my phone). I recently came across this article in The New York Times that included a collection of covers from this classic novel that were collected by Matthew J. Bruccoli (scholar and F. Scott Fitzgerald biographer). His collection spans 83 years of book designs and is now housed at the University of South Carolina. Although the collection is worth several million dollars Bruccoli says "You don't buy books as an investment. You buy them because it gives you pleasure to read them, to touch see them on shelves." I couldn't agree more.
