Tasty Tuesday: Portobello and Zucchini Tacos

Last week I was craving Mexican food and came across this recipe from Martha Stewart for Portobello and Zucchini Tacos. I found fresh zucchini at the Green City Market and portobello mushrooms at my Trader Joes, and was pleasantly surprised at how easy these were to make. I also added some avocado and green salsa for a little extra flavor.

What I'm Reading Now: In the Garden of Beasts

This month my book club is reading In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson. I have yet to read Larson's The Devil in the White City, but I've heard great things about his writing. In the Garden of Beasts follows William Dodd who moves his family to Berlin in 1933 at the height of Hitler's reign to become America's first ambassador to Germany. I love historically based novels so I'm really looking forward to reading this book.

Tasty Tuesday: Troquet

If you're looking for some amazing French inspired food in a laid back environment then head on over to Troquet. This neighborhood French bar has a wide selection of craft brews and wines, but the food is the real winner here. I would highly recommend the mussels, frites, and the gazpacho soup to satisfy your appetite while dining on the patio or at a cozy table indoors.

Enjoy this restaurant with your girlfriends or on a date for fabulous food and drinks that everyone will enjoy!

What I'm Reading Now: Sweet Lemon Magazine

I'm currently flipping through the latest issue of Sweet Lemon Magazine. You all know I love browisng through online magazines and this one is a current favorite. I'm loving the feature on Sarah Vickers, the broke girls guide to NYC and the recipe for basil strawberry lemonade granitas in this issue.

Sweet Lemon has a little something for everyone whether you enjoy champagne and macarons, or Coke and a hotdog. What could be better than that?

Tasty Tuesday: Laduree

One of my "must see" places on my New York trip was a visit to Laduree on Madison Ave. for a famous macaron. Laudree has been around since 1862 (yes, you read that correctly) in Paris and they are known around the world for their delicious macarons. If it's good enough for Blair on Gossip Girl you know it has to be good.

As you can see below Laudree has quite the menu to choose from, and the hardest part was deciding which flavors to try. My friend and I selected a range of different flavors such as green apple, carmel with salted butter, coffee, and classic vanilla. It was the perfect afternoon snack to savor on a bench in Central Park.

What I'm Reading Now: Rules of Civility

I just started Rules of Civility on my way home from New York and I'm already hooked. The book takes place in 1930s New York and follows Katey Kontent who makes her way from a Wall Street secretary to the upper level social scene after meeting the handsome banker Tinker Grey. After being in New York this past weekend I love the setting of the book and following the glamorous life of these characters.

Tasty Tuesday: Chicago q

Nestled in the heart of the Gold Coast is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago known for some pretty amazing BBQ and excellent service. Chicago q is a modern urban BBQ experience that offers a little something for everyone (even vegetarians such as myself). I'm a huge fan of their seasonal oysters, smoked salmon salad, bruleed macaroni and cheese and the famous cornbread is to die for. And for all you meat eaters out there look forward to indulging in their pulled pork sandwich, smoked chicken and of course some ribs that all come with a selection of their homemade BBQ sauces.

If you're looking for the perfect patio this summer to enjoy some incredible food and drinks with friends or a date head on over to Chicago q!

What I'm Reading Now: One Day

One Day has been on my reading list for far too long so it was about time to see what all the hype was about. The story begins on July 15, 1988 when Emma and Dexter meet on the day of their graduation, and each chapter highlights July 15 of the following year. Emma and Dexter's characters are relatable, but their romance is complex as the book follows their lives over 20 years. I'm loving the unique style of writing each chapter from one day out of each year, and I can't wait to find out how the book ends!
