What I'm Reading Now: The Great Gatsby

With the much anticipated The Great Gatsby movie hitting theatres soon I thought it was only appropriate to re-read the book. The Great Gatsby makes my top 10 list of favorite books, but it's been awhile (and by awhile I mean since high school) since I've actually read the book. I'm loving a revisit to this classic story and I can't wait to see the movie!

Tasty Tuesday: Cherry Republic

Cherry Republic is a staple of Northern Michigan. It's a destination for tourists and locals for all things cherry including wine, ice cream, BBQ sauce, jam, candy and their famous Boomchunka cookies (my absolute favorite). My family and I have have savored countless lunches on the patio, and we can't leave without picking up a few of our must-have cherry products. It's all about "Life, Liberty, Beaches & Pie" at Cherry Republic which pretty much sums it all up.

What I'm Reading Now: What the Dog Saw

I'm a huge fan of Malcolm Gladwell's books so I'm really excited to read What the Dog Saw that includes his favorite essays he's written for The New Yorker. The essays span a broad range of subjects such as the hair dye market in post-war America, the power and fame of Ron Popeil and the Chop-O-Matic, and the role of first impressions on a job interview. Each essay is engaging and well written, and Gladwell has such a creative way of making you think about a things in a new light. Be sure to check out his other fabulous books Blink, The Tipping Point and Outliers.

What I'm Reading Now: J.Crew Style Guide - June 2012

Since I no longer work right across the street from J.Crew I was long overdue to pay my favorite store a visit. I'm completely smitten with their summer collection that's full of bright colors, nautical stripes, and the perfect beach accessories. You should all be pretty impressed that I didn't walk out with anything for myself (a rare occurrence) except for the latest issue of the J.Crew Style Guide for some wardrobe inspiration.

What I'm Reading Now: The Happiness Project

After hearing so many great things about The Happiness Project I had to move this book to the top of my list. The book follows author Gretchen Rubin on her persuit to appreciating the amazing things already in her life after realizing she was taking them for granted. Her approach to carrying out her happiness project was setting tweleve goals (one for each month) in order to spend a year finding happiness in her everyday life. I'm already finding myself adapting some of her goals to my own life such as the one minute rule, appreciating your life in this moment, and clearing out the clutter in your home. This is the perfect summer read that may even inspire you to create your own happiness project.

The winner of the Project Soiree painting giveaway is Molly. Congrats!
